Maria Turner is a painter working from her studio in Kent.
I work mostly from imagination and memory, where my paintings reference places I have visited but also develop worlds of their own through mark-making and colour. This creates a relationship between abstraction and depiction which can be continually explored. I have an exploratory approach towards my work, through brushwork and use of media which allows unexpected relationships to emerge. Through process and reaction, I aspire to develop a living surface to the work.
